Bonar
Law Historic Park:
A historic park commemorates the birth, in the village of Rexton, of Bonar
Law, the only Prime Minister of Great Britain ever to be born outside
the British Isles. The population is mainly English-speaking in this small
village, whose first name was simply The Yard, because of the boat-building
company which was established there by John Jardine. The community adopted
the name Kingston for a period of time but its current name, Rexton, has
been in use since 1901.
Its peaceful
environment provides a large number of outdoor activities, particularly
in winter when the surrounding countryside becomes a snowmobile paradise.
