S a i n t - A n t o i n e

Coming up Cocagne River, the first settlers arrived in Saint-Antoine in 1834. Previously named "Higho of Cocagne" because of its elevation, father Gosselin gave the name "Saint-Antoine l'Ermite" as the church's patron, which eventually became St-Antoine. The village was incorporated November 9, 1966. Known for its "Poutine Rapée" and "Fricot", the major part of this acadian village surrounds the business centre and its carved stone church built in 1923. Saint-Antoine is the home of the first acadian New Brunswick premier, Louis J. Robichaud, now a Senator.
