This worked like never before; for in
those two years, this town saw activities, which involved each and every
group in the area. There were sleigh rides; bonfires; sing-songs, sing-a-longs
and get-togethers of every type. «picture»

Contests; posters; pot luck suppers and
plays and dances - we had it all and more!! T - shirts with action slogans;
old costumes; a library opening; but the thing that tied it all together
was the people with their sincere dedication and loyal support. Tim
Daigle needed financial backing for the senior dances. He talked to
the area business people. In three days, he had help from no less than
51 of them. In 1985, on the first day of July, we became a town. Over
2,500 people sat in front of the old Post Office then the town hall
while the ceremonies made it official. The evening ended with a spectacular
fireworks display. We had come full circle; our beloved Richibucto was
New Brunswick's newest town. «picture»
